MEDIATION SERVICES

The purpose of mediation is to assist disputing parties in making their own decisions and evaluating their own situations.  A mediator facilitates communication, promotes understanding, focuses the parties on their shared interests, and engages the parties in creative problem-solving so they can reach their own agreements. The mediators of GLASS FAMILY LAW urge our clients to consider the relevant law, weigh their own values, principles, and priorities, and develop an optimal outcome for themselves, without ever having to go to Court.

Whether your family law matter involves property division and issues of support, or finding the most appropriate parenting plan for you and your children, mediation represents a more controlled, timely, efficient, and personalized experience over litigation. Mediation with an attorney from GLASS FAMILY LAW will also save you and your family thousands (and perhaps tens of thousands) of dollars versus litigating your disputes through the court system.

The lawyers of GLASS FAMILY LAW have years of experience mediating cases. David J. Glass has served as the court-appointed mediator in the Los Angeles Superior Court, West Division, for over 5 years, handing Mandatory Settlement Conferences scheduled in Department E. David’s background and prior experience as a therapist aids him in helping people move towards solutions that make emotional and financial sense. Lori A. Darakjian holds a Certificate in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the Straus Institute at Pepperdine University.

MEDIATION RATHER THAN LITIGATION?

If you and your spouse are willing and ready to work towards a solution, we can help you resolve your case quickly and efficiently. For people who are willing to engage in the process, Mediation represents a much more favorable option over Litigation:

  1. Mediation, by its nature, reduces the animosity that may exist between you and your spouse.
  2. When people participate and craft their own agreement, as opposed to having a resolution forced on them by the Judge, the parties are more likely to comply with the terms.
  3. Parenting schedules can be personalized and tailored to meet your family’s needs, rather than being the more “cookie cutter” Orders that are common in Family Court.
  4. Court costs, attorney’s fees and other expenses are minimized.
  5. The parties, and their children, are better positioned after mediation to move forward after a divorce or separation and to have better post-marital relationships.

Using an attorney from GLASS FAMILY LAW as your mediator will give you the above benefits, and more.
